Inmate Property Service (IPS)
The IPS is available to recently incarcerated inmates housed at the eligible Correctional Centres on approval by the relevant Manager of Services and Programs. It assists inmates with no trusted support in the community to have their property secured and stored if required until their release.
To access this service inmates should see their Services and Programs Officer at the correctional centre or alternatively Prisoners Aid can be notified at email@example.com or 0412 430214. The IPS can assist with small property items such as clothing, personal effects, documents and small appliances (under 15kg) whose combined volume is less than 1 cubic metre. The following items cannot be collected:
- Stolen, Illegal or hazardous items
- Property can only be collected where it is located within 100km of the Sydney GPO.
Eligible Centres: Emu Plains, Parklea, Compulsory Drug Treatment Centre, Dawn De Loas, Dillwynia, John Morony, Outer Metropolitan Multi Purpose Centre, Kariong, Long Bay (selected areas), Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre, Silverwater Womens.
Note: Foreign nationals with no trusted support in Sydney are eligible to the IPS irrespective of their correctional centre location within NSW.
