Tina McPhee - Prisoners Aid NSW

Tina McPhee

Appointed to the Board of the Prisoners’ Aid Association of NSW in 2023, Tina McPhee (She/Her) (Bch Crim Hons, PhD Candidate) is a criminologist with lived experience. She teaches and studies at UNSW and serves as a lived experience advocacy coordinator at the Justice Reform Initiative.

Since her release from prison in 2018, Tina has passionately advocated for ending the collateral consequences of conviction. Her doctoral thesis is an autoethnographical exploration of the damaging effects these consequences have on the re-entry journey. Tina’s activism and storytelling are driven by the solidarity of carceral citizenship and the push to replace harmful system labels with person-centered language when referring to individuals who are or have been incarcerated.
